The project aims to investigate pathways and developmental trajectories of financial at-Risk (FAR) adolescents, delineated as disadvantaged students occupying the bottom 25 per cent of Singapore’s socio-economic index.
This study focuses on expanding the knowledge base of at-risk factors and vulnerabilities for FAR adolescents while also identifying protective or buffering factors towards desired adolescent outcomes (listed below). The study adopts an ecological perspective to investigate the sociocultural, psychological, and neurophysiological factors influencing the pathways and developmental trajectories of FAR adolescents throughout their secondary schooling years.
This mixed-methods multimodal study integrates qualitative research components (interviews & focus groups) to further provide in-depth insights into the factors influencing FAR’s adolescents educational pathways and trajectories. Additionally, the project utilizes advanced machine learning methodologies to develop predictive models for at-risk adolescents, with the overarching goal of informing targeted interventions tailored to this vulnerable population.
