On 27 August 2024, two of our Principal Investigators presented key insights from their research at the Ministry of Education’s Research and Management Information Division (RMID) Learning Day, contributing to the ongoing conversation on adolescent development and education in Singapore.

Dr. Melvin Chan (Project 1) shared findings from the recent “Parents and Me” Symposium (Redesigning Pedagogy International Conference 2024), highlighting the pivotal role that parental involvement plays in shaping adolescents’ educational experiences and developmental outcomes. His presentation shed light on the intricate dynamics between parents and their children, offering insights that can inform family-school partnerships and parental engagement initiatives.

Dr. Imelda Caleon (Project 3) showcased the power of Interdisciplinary Research Using Social Network Analysis, demonstrating how this innovative approach can help us understand the complex relationships and peer influences within school environments. Her work emphasized the potential for leveraging social networks to support students’ learning, well-being, and overall development.

These presentations provided RMID staff with valuable perspectives and methodologies that can be applied to future policy-making and program development aimed at improving educational pathways for adolescents in Singapore.
